# What the Light Remembers: a constructed mix study

Unmeasured was deliberately made from the existing v03 mix to demonstrate an imbalance. This is not a historical before-and-after, a customer testimonial, or an automatic correction by WavRead.

## Hear the same passage

The homepage compares 0:56–1:28 of each version. Both excerpts are matched to −23 LUFS using constant gain, then encoded as MP3. Loudness matching helps prevent the louder version from winning by volume alone.

## What changed

Memory Piano −7 dB; Thread Cello −3 dB; Low Horizon +5 dB; Gravity Sub +10 dB; Bronze Footsteps +5 dB; Dust Pulse +7 dB. Unmeasured was rendered by adding the gain differences of the aligned stems to the existing v03 master. The arrangement and unaffected parts were preserved.

## What WavRead measured

Both complete original WAVs were analyzed with the same settings in WavRead 1.5.4. These are whole-track values, before excerpt loudness matching.

| Measurement | Unmeasured | Measured to advice |
| --- | ---: | ---: |
| Sub energy, 20–60 Hz | 73.0% | 26.8% |
| Integrated loudness | −20.1 LUFS | −21.9 LUFS |
| Crest factor | 16.5 dB | 18.5 dB |

Unmeasured places almost three quarters of its measured energy in the sub range. Listen for how the piano relates to that bass weight. The values identify a difference to investigate; they are not scores or universal mixing targets. WavRead analyzes and explains. Mix decisions and processing remain yours.
